Chicago’s Home-Grown Comedic Clubhouse Opens the Doors Twice a Weekend to Sold-Out Houses

CHICAGO - VAMP Chicago, LLC is proud to present their signature experience, “VAMP: A Music Comedy Drinking Show,” every Friday and Saturday night at 10:30 p.m. Voted as the “Best Atmosphere in Musical Improv” by Newcity, VAMP is a hilarious musical twist on a classic Chicago comedy show. Backed by house band The Vampers (featuring piano, guitar, bass and drums), this show is a quick-paced comedic tour-de-force showcasing a multitude of characters, scenes, songs, and dancing all based on the suggestions of the nightly audience. All shows are performed at MCL Chicago (3110 N. Sheffield Ave.), a BYOB theater. Tickets are on sale now ($18 General, $15 Student).

“It's an honor to work with such an incredibly talented group of people,” said VAMP Chicago President Brandon C. Price. “We have the greatest cast, the greatest leadership team, and most importantly, the greatest audience of fans. Whether they've been with us since the beginning, or just had their first of many trips to the show, there is no other group of people we'd rather play for than them. We believe everyone has a key to the most exciting comedy club in Chicago.”

VAMP: A Music Comedy Drinking Show is a twice-weekly showcase of Chicago’s strongest musical comedy talent. The show boasts a live house band and a rotating cast of 16 quick-on-their-feet comedians who weekly produce the best music comedy in Chicago. The show features original short-improv comedy games in the style of “Who’s Line Is It Anyway,” but every player is Wayne Brady. VAMP is a hilarious night of interactive music comedy, now in it's third year of an open run at the BYOB Lakeview venue, MCL Chicago. Weekly updates can be found on the VAMP website, Facebook page and on Twitter (@vamp_chicago).

MCL Chicago, formerly known as Studio BE, NFP, creates and fosters exceptional live music comedy. MCL Chicago expands the power of comedy, of theatre, and of the Chicago community at large through music, performance, workshops and community outreach. Operating since 2009, MCL Chicago, situated in the heart of Lakeview’s Belmont Theatre District, is a venue for comedians, performers and improvisers of all trades, offering a variety of self-produced work and that of visiting companies.

In July of 2015, VAMP Chicago LLC was founded by Brandon C. Price, Keenan Camp, Alex Garday, and Michael Shepherd Jordan. The show was conceptualized and debuted on Thursday July 31, 2014 at 10 p.m. in the newly renovated MCL Chicago. Over the following months VAMP was shaped and polished by the founders with musical contributions from Stephanie McCullough and by March 2015 was playing Friday and Saturday nights to nearly sold out houses. The ensemble consists of 16 rotating comedians and a house band of musicians who weekly produce Chicago's most engaging musical comedy show.
